The Design Brief

A comfortably sized L-Shaped new build home in close proximity to a road and pedestrian walkway.

The landscaper’s clients requested an attractive driveway with good access to the double garage and extra parking space for guests.
They expressed a preference for traditional style landscaping with plenty of easily maintained planting but no lawn. A formal but friendly feel at the entrance to the house and planting to disguise the boundary fences.

Although My Garden Design offers a survey service at a moderate additional cost, the landscaper chose to submit measurements and levels himself.

The Design

The My Garden Design team created a sweeping drive with gently curving lines and a decorative stone circle to add interest. Our designer recommended light coloured stone setts for the main driveway with a contrasting edging.

Porcelain pavers in the same colour offer a contrasting texture to welcome visitors to the front door. The same pavers are used for the decorative feature in the drive and for the pathway leading to the rear of the house

Optional Extras

3D Design

Our client felt that the homeowners may struggle to visualise the concept from a 2D design and so opted for our 3D design service. The small extra investment did the trick – it won him the job!

Planting Plan

Planting is intrinsic to this design. Our clients chose to add a planting plan to the brief as an optional extra.

The purpose of the planting was to lead the eye away from a robust but utilitarian fence and to discourage passing pedestrians from straying onto the property. It needed to be decorative, easy to maintain and to provide all year round interest.
